Margaret Denison Fall Nature Walks: Kanawha

A fall hike at Kanawha State Forest showcases summer flowers, trees and wildlife is planned for Saturday, September 16, 2023. Registration typically starts at 8:30. Walks begin at 9:00. Meet at the Nature Center (pool building). Attendees can choose from a series of guided nature hikes on a variety of topics. Leaders are volunteers, park staff and Master Naturalists.
Kanawha State Forest Foundation will be selling hot dogs and refreshments. There is a small registration fee to support the foundation planning and implementing of these great educational programs.
This outdoor activity is named in honor of former Kanawha County science teacher Margaret Denison, who documented 710 species of flowering plants, 42 species of ferns and 138 grass and sedge species in Kanawha State Forest.
