If you prefer a slower ride where you can relax and enjoy a unique view of West Virginia’s iconic mountain scenery, take a trip on the aerial tram at Pipestem or Hawks Nest, which whisk you down thousands of feet into the Bluestone and New River gorges. Pipestem’s tram is open daily during the summer, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (The tram closes for routine maintenance on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.) Tickets may be purchased at the Canyon Rim Center. Hawks Nest’s tram is open daily during the summer, except on Wednesdays. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the park lodge.
