WonderFALL Hike and Walk – Chief Logan
October 22, 2022 All day
It’s fall y’all and a good time to hike at Chief Logan State Park. Join Naturalist Lauren Cole for two hikes today, October 22, 2022. Both activities begin at the Museum in the Park where the park headquarters, gift shop, and restrooms are located.
Woodpecker Trail Hike
9:00 a.m.
Early and intrepid hikers are rewarded with a grand tour of fall woods at Chief Logan State Park on October 22, 2022. Fall colors should be at peak. The Woodpecker Trail is a moderate trail of approximately three miles and there are several moderate to steep sections – but worth the hike. We’ll pace ourselves and make plenty of stops for photographs and nature identification.
Consider spending Friday night at Chief Logan Lodge so you’ll be up and ready for the 9:00 a.m. hike.
Fitness to Shawnee Trails Walk
1:00 p.m.
If early morning is not your speed, maybe roll out of bed at Chief Logan Lodge and join us for a post-lunch stroll! This walk is a great option for families with younger children. There is one short steep start at the Shawnee Trail and then easy walking. We’ll see fall colors, learn a little about why leaves change colors, and observe mast and its importance for wildlife.
