VIPP picnic for state parks fans Aug. 24, 2019, at Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park

Registration deadline is Aug. 15

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Fans of West Virginia state parks who are members of the Very Important Parks Person (VIPP) program are invited to attend the program’s 33rd annual picnic. This year’s event will be held Aug. 24 at Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park in Parkersburg.

“This annual picnic is a way to honor our most loyal visitors,” said State Parks Chief Sam England. “We schedule them at a different state park each year to thank people who enjoy state parks and forests, and, more importantly, take advantage of our interpretive programming, hiking and other outdoor activities.”

Advance registration and payment are required and must be received by Aug. 15. The fee is $35 for adults and $30 for youth age 12 and younger and includes a picnic meal, sternwheeler ride, mansion tour, horse-drawn wagon ride and additional activities. The event is open to individuals enrolled in the Very Important Parks Person program before May 31, 2019.

The picnic registration form is downloadable from www.wvstateparks.com. Use the search tool for VIPP or find the event under Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park event listings. To receive the picnic information and registration by mail, call 304-558-2764 or email dnr.vipp@wv.gov.
