Astronomy Weekend

September 5, 2018 @ 9:01 pm - September 7, 2018 @ 9:01 pm

Since 1987, the dark skies at Blackwater Falls State Park have welcomed the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society. This group hosts an amazing astronomy weekend that is open to the public. Visitors may observe the striking beauty of the night sky often displaying the Milky Way from horizon to horizon due to incredibly dark skies. Astronomers, astrophotographers, and individuals fascinated with constellations are welcomed. Bring the family or come alone to enjoy a treasured resource — dark skies! The weekend activities include star watching parties each evening at Blackwater Falls Nature Center. Day time activities and sessions are also part of the event. Blackwater Falls State Park offers overnight lodging accommodations in the 54-room lodge, 39 cabins or 65-unit campground. Reservations can be made by calling: 304-259-5216.

For other astronomy activities, email the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society at [email protected], find them on Facebook, or visit KVAS.org.
