HATFIELD-MCCOY TRAILS
The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System gets its name from the region in southern West Virginia where much of the world-famous Hatfield-McCoy Trails are now located. The Buffalo Mountain, Bearwallow, Devil Anse, and Rockhouse Trail Systems are located on or near historical sites and state parks. Come experience some of the best ATV, UTV, and dirt bike trail riding in the world.
Chief Logan State Park
If you are spending anytime on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails, staying at Chief Logan State Park is part of the experience. Just ask the thousands of ATV enthusiasts who visit the park each year, making it one of the most visited in West Virginia. And you can’t ask for a better starting point for exploring the more than 700 miles of off-road trails winding through the hills and hollows of southern West Virginia. In fact, Bearwallow Trailhead is right outside the Chief Logan State Park entrance.
Twin Falls State Park
Explore even more trails in the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System near Twin Falls Resort State Park. Pinnacle Creek Trailhead is only 15 miles from Twin Falls and most known for its breathtaking scenic views and proximity to world class whitewater. This is popular for folks wanting to take a nice leisure ride through walls of rhododendron. Twin Falls Resort State Park Park offers all your creature comforts, including an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool and 47-room mountaintop lodge.
Cabwaylingo State Forest
Designed for all-terrain, off-road and utility vehicles, the Cabwaylingo Trail at Cabwaylingo State Forest is the first in the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System to be located within a state forest. After your day of riding, unwind at a quiet campsite or rustic cabin in the center of the forest. Along the Cabwaylingo Trail, ATV, UTV, 4×4 and dirt bike riders will find nearly 100 miles of new trails to explore, plenty of parking for trucks and trailers, and a trailhead facility with trail permits for sale.
