Springtime! It is here and Cacapon staff invites one and all to visit and enjoy the trails and activities. Visit Cacapon Resort State Park April 10-13, 2023. We hope you take advantage of the activities planned and without charge.

Come and find out what the three featured mammals are! Learn about their tracks, traits, and fun facts. Any age is welcome. Make and take a plaster cast foot print and enjoy some informational coloring sheets.

Discovery Hike
Let’s discover what trees and wildflowers are starting to bloom! Each day spring flowers greet us with new shoots and blooms.

When visiting Cacapon Resort State Park, visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41. Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities!

Valerie Chaney is the state park naturalist at Cacapon Resort State Park. She is a certified interpretive guide (CIG) through the National Association of Interpreters (NAI)
