Cacapon’s Nature Center is alive with activities and inviting you to some St. Paddy’s weekend fun. It all starts at the Nature Center. It’s for all ages and encourages family attendance on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Outdoors for spring greening!

Meet at the Nature Center to earn your West Virginia State Park shamrock hiking patch for this year’s Green Day Hike. Let’s discover sights and sounds of spring, looking for colors of green as spring returns. We’ll explore the Central Trail which is about a two mile walk/hike.

It’s National Quilt Day
Delectable Mountain Quilt Guild Featured at Cacapon

Join local volunteers with the “Delectable Mountain Quilt Guild” for hourly mini frame demonstrations and view a variety of quilt samples. For over forty years, this volunteer organization has been a fellowship of quilters who create a variety of styles from traditional quilts to art quilts, teaching, community outreach and fellowship.

Irish Road Bowling
This fun Irish sport is all about! Prizes for the winning team. Meet at the Nature Center for this outdoor recreation.

About Irish Road Bowling.
Back in the day it was Irish Long Bullets Road Bowling. Irish Road Bowling can be traced back to the 1600s. One story is that Dutch soldiers brought it when William of Orange came to Ireland in 1689. Another legend says that Irish patriots robbed English cannonballs and rolled them down a country lane by the light of a full moon.
