Starry Saturday Night – Green Comet Special: Chief Logan

January 28, 2023 @ 6:30 pm 8:30 pm

Starry Saturday Night on January 28, 2023 is a Green Comet Special! This is your chance to get a good look at C/2002 E3 (Z.T.F.) before it is gone for another 50,000 years!

Meet Naturalist Lauren Cole at Chief Logan Lodge at 6:30PM at the outdoor fire pit area. Lauren will be there from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. It is a night of sky-watching! Look through a computerized telescope at various celestial bodies including the moon, planets, galaxies, and more. Learn seasonal constellations and other cool facts about the night sky.

This particular starry night program is centered around the special green comet, C/2022 E3 (Z.T.F.). Other potentially visible objects include Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Venus, ISS (8:20PM to 8:31PM) and the moon. This program includes a Moon Pie snack! On a facebook note when asked where it is best seen: “It’s currently hanging around to the left of the tail of the constellation Draco.”

Participants of all ages are welcome. There is no fee to participate. Social distancing is encouraged. The program can require patience that may be difficult for younger children. Dress for the weather, it could be chilly. Rain will cancel this program. Not all objects may be visible due to cloudiness or other factors, but we’ll still have a good time looking up.
