Inspired by Nature. Cacapon Resort State Park features nature-based programs and an evening with funny guy Bil Lepp on August 13, 2022. All activities and programs are free to attend and open to the public. Join Naturalist Valerie Chaney and summer team Garrett, Allen and Mary and park volunteers at the nature center (unless another location is indicated), August 11-14, 2022.

Learn about common trees followed by a fun craft!

Join park volunteer and Potomac Valley Master Naturalist for a evening stroll starting at the lodge.

Storyteller Bil Lepp. Don’t miss master storyteller, champion liar, funny guy, author, and tv host Bil Lepp for a live performance at the Cacapon Bath House above the main beach entrance.

9:30AM — Geology Walk
Meet at the front desk of the lodge to hike on the Piney Ridge Trail to learn Cacapon’s geology.

1:30PM — Sights and Sounds of Summer
What sounds are you hearing lately? Spring frogs or toads? YPP

3:30PM — Weed Warriors
Learn about the park’s many invasive plants and help battle them. Loppers
provided. YPP

August 20-National Honey Bee Day (live bees presentation)

Visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! at Cacapon State Park. The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park’s history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41.

Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities! The Nature Center is open daily from 9AM-5PM.
