Welcome August Activities: Cacapon

August 1, 2022 - August 4, 2022

Welcome August! Cacapon Resort State Park continues to invite visitors to enjoy being outside and enjoying special programs at the park: fire building, paddle boat hike, and more. Join Naturalist Valerie Chaney and summer team Garrett, Allen and Mary and park volunteers at the nature center (unless another location is indicated), August 1-4, 2022.

PADDLE BOAT DISCOVERY
Take a naturalist guided paddle on the lake to learn the park’s natural and cultural history. $5 per person first come first served

SEEDS OF HISTORY
Learn about our rich Appalachian subsistent past in our CCC heritage garden. YPP

Discover the variety owls by sight and sound! What do they eat? Find out by dissecting on owl pellet! YPP

Visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! at Cacapon State Park. The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park’s history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41.

Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities! The Nature Center is open daily from 9AM-5PM.
