Shop Small in West Virginia State Parks

Looking for that perfect Christmas present? Shop at West Virginia state park gift shops, where you can find unique handmade items and support small businesses. Park gift shops carry a wide variety of West Virginia-made products, from collectibles to food. Jessica Dolin, retail merchandising manager for West Virginia State Parks, shares some of the best-selling products available at park gift shops below.

Holiday Shops

Deck the halls! Shop for ornaments and other festive cheer at Hawks Nest and Chief Logan state parks, Pipestem Resort, all of which are hosting holiday shops this year. All state parks, including Kanawha State Forest, Blackwater Falls State Park and Cass Scenic Railroad, also offer Christmas ornaments and holiday themed items among their regular store inventories.

West Virginia Artisans

At park gift shops you’ll find beautiful collectibles from West Virginia artisans. Glassware remains one of the most popular items, with top sellers including water pitchers and suncatchers from Blenko Glass Company and friendship balls and bird figurines from Appalachian Glass Products.

Food Products

Who doesn’t love some delicious West Virginia-made treats? Shop for stocking stuffers or fill your gift baskets with tasty homemade offerings from In a Jam, ThistleDew Farm Honey, Daniel’s Maple Syrup, Blue Smoke Salsa, Sassy Gals Gourmet Treats, and many more selections.

Hot Items

Park gift shops are always adding inventory. New items for the 2021 season include several products from Loving WV: T-shirts at Blackwater Falls, sticker designs at several parks and a West Virginia scratch-off map at all gift shops. Another recent addition comes courtesy of the Nitro High School Simulated Work Program: wooden ornaments tailored to 15 state parks. The students help design, manage, budget and make the ornaments.

“Each shop has a different assortment of local flair and West Virginia goodies,” Dolin said. “Linda Childers has a beautiful puzzle that showcases all of West Virginia and highlights the parks. We have had to reorder puzzles numerous times and keep selling out.”

Gift shops are located at lodge parks as well as several other parks and forests throughout West Virginia. For more information or to inquire about gift shop hours, call the park you plan to visit.
