Lost River State Park
Tucked away in the wooded mountains of Hardy County in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, Lost River State Park is comprised of 3,934 quiet acres, making it an ideal getaway for nature lovers and those looking to take a break from the daily grind. Visitors are drawn to the park’s secluded lodging and abundance of trails – one of which leads to the iconic Cranny Crow overlook on Big Ridge Mountain.
Special Features: There are 19 hiking trails at Lost River, including nine horse-friendly trails for visitors who would like to bring their steeds along with them.

Cabins: Lost River has 26 cozy cabins with modern amenities available for guests. Classic and vacation cabins are available all year, and legacy cabins are available April through October.
Camping: The park has two primitive campsites including one horse-friendly site. There are also three additional campsites near the upper shelter No.2 area.
Camp Creek State Park and Forest
Nearly 6,000 acres of woodland, beautiful waterfalls, 35 miles of trails and seven miles of seasonally stocked trout streams set Camp Creek State Park and Forest apart. Located off I-77 in Mercer County, the park is a great for family trips and stop-overs during a scenic drive through southern West Virginia.
Special Features: Visit nearby Brush Creek Falls, a popular spot for photographers and nature lovers.

Camping: Camp Creek has four campgrounds; Mash Fork Campground contains 26 trailer/tent sites with hookups. Blue Jay Campground and Double C Horse and Rider Campground are non-electric. The Pack It In – Pack It Out Campground has sites for campers who want to travel away from the mainstream facilities.
Unique Stays: Camp Creek’s band-new Ranger Outpost Cabin is perfect for anyone looking for a scenic, secluded retreat in the mountains. The Ranger Outpost Cabin is accessed via a 3.3 – mile hike into the forest and leads to beautiful views and outdoor adventures. The cabin features a studio-style interior with four bunk-style beds and a loft with a twin bed.
