Enjoy the thrill of catching trout on an exclusive portion of the Bluestone River.

Unspoiled natural beauty. Cool, refreshing shade. Clean, free-flowing water. The Bluestone River Gorge at Pipestem Resort State Park is the perfect place for a guided trout fishing experience and offers a real wilderness adventure you won’t find anywhere else.

Stocked with 1-5 lbs. brown and rainbow trout, Pipestem’s exclusive portion of the Bluestone is now open to guided fishing trips, led by some of West Virginia’s best fishing experts. Because trout prefer colder temperatures, trips are only offered through May 23. So, plan a trip today and don’t miss your opportunity to cast a line in the remote Bluestone Gorge!

A guided trout fishing experience catered to your needs

Whether you are an experienced angler or new to fly fishing, Pipestem’s guided trout fishing trips are made for you. These trips can be enjoyed by anglers of all skillsets. Even if you’ve never fished before, our guides will have you casting with confidence in no time!

Anglers will be taken to Pipestem’s Mountain Creek Lodge located on the Bluestone River. Guided trips include instruction from an expert, on a two-guest-per-guide ratio. There are several all-inclusive packages with lodging and gourmet dinners. A one-day fly fishing clinic also is available. So, come for the day or stay for a weekend. Either way, there’s no better way to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of Almost Heaven, West Virginia.

Want to join a guided trip but don’t have fishing gear of your own? Don’t worry! Rods, reels and wader rentals are available at Mountain Creek Lodge.

Make sure you have a WV fishing license

If you love fishing as much as we do, you probably already have a West Virginia fishing license. If you don’t have one, one may be purchased online at wvfish.com. You’ll also need to make sure you have a current trout stamp before embarking on your trip. Licenses and stamps are good for the calendar year, so make plans to come back or enjoy the incredible fishing opportunities at another West Virginia State Park.
