You’ll find interesting activities that reflect the story of Cacapon Resort State Park. Join Naturalist Valerie Chaney and summer team, Garrett, Allen and Mary at the nature center (unless another location is indicated), July 15-17, 2022.

Fishing 101
Meet at the Nature Center, then head out to the lake! Learn how to tie a fishing hook, then cast out! Fishing poles & worms provided (limited amount) or bring your own. (1hour) YPP

Learn about our rich Appalachian subsistent past in our CCC heritage garden. YPP

Stream Study
Discover what makes a stream healthy and what unlikely critters may be hiding in plain sight! Meet at Nature Center. You may want to bring shoes to get wet. YPP

Meet the Park Naturalist at the lodge to answer any general park questions you may have or find out what amazing recreation and nature activities Cacapon has to offer. Welcome to Cacapon Resort State Park!

Irish Road Bowling
Enjoy an afternoon of Irish bowling! If you haven’t tried this sport, come out and see

Learn the importance of spiders and how we are all connected in the web of life. Bring a flashlight for this search for spiders!

Night Skies
Join local astronomer Kevin Boles, for an evening of gazing at the stars at Upper Lake. Bring a chair and flashlight. In case or rain a night sky PowerPoint will be held at the lodge.

Pollinator Field Tour
Discover the park’s 10 acres of native wildflower fields and what’s in bloom!

At Berkeley Springs State Park
Orientation & History Meet summer naturalist at the warm springs near George Washington’s
Bathtub. Drop in anytime from 10-11:30am to see historic photos of the park through the years.

Woodland Box Turtle
Come and learn some fun facts and ways to help this turtle survive! YPP

Sights and Sounds of Summer
What sounds are you hearing lately? Spring frogs or toads? YPP

Weed Warriors
Learn about the park’s many invasive plants and help battle them. Loppers provided.

Come and visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41.

Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities! Nature Center is open daily 9AM-5PM.
