Family Adventures You Have to Try in West Virginia State Parks

Looking for a small hike to lead to a truly magnificent treasure? The Blackwater Falls State Park has one of the most iconic waterfalls in the whole state! After a roughly 0.4-mile and a 30-minute hike through the lush forest, you’ll reach the waterfall. The waters of falls have a very distinct black tinge, thanks to natural tannic acid from the fallen hemlock needles and spruce giving it that naturally dark color. It’s a real picture worthy spot to take the family!

Wanting to take a trip to a spot known internationally for its beauty? Babcock State Park is also known for the partical use of its mill. It is used to freshly grind both cornmeal and buckwheat, which is for sale on-site. The park offers many activities as well, such as fishing, basketball, tennis, mountain biking and hiking (With trails spanning over 20 miles).

Located in Greenbrier County sits the lush Beartown State Park. This park features exceptionally formed rocks that not just look amazing, but also have some stellar history. Millions of years of erosion made the wonderful rock formations, and many people love to visit “the town”, a deep, narrow, and crossing fissure creating a sunken town illusion.

Nothing says summer like a lake day in Almost Heaven. Beech This park boats its 720-acre lake with a plethora of activities. The park allows boating, with rentals available from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Cast a line and reel in largemouth bass, black crappie, channel catfish, saugeye and even tiger muskellunge.
