FRIDAY, October 13, 2023
10:00AM WV Snakes
Learn helpful ways to tell if a snake is venomous or non-venomous. Learn some fun facts about common WV snakes. (No Live Snakes in program)

1:00PM Tree ID Walk
Learn how to identify some common WV trees by their leaves and bark. Why are some leaves orange and others red or yellow? Find out when you join us for this activity.

2:30PM Wonders of the White-tailed Deer
Whether you look in awe at a newborn fawn or are frustrated because a herd of deer ate your Hostas or are angered because your car has been damaged in an accident, white-tailed deer are amazing animals. Come learn the characteristics of deer and history of white-tailed deer in WV. Let’s share some management ideas, feel a pelt, make a footprint and tell stories of this magnificent creature.

10:00AM Fall Discovery Walk
Fall is in the air! Join us for a guided hike to enjoy the fall color as leaves show their fall beauty.

1:00-3:30PM Tree of Life Ornament Class
The MACreate South art instructor will help you create your own gemstone ornament and turn copper wire into a tree of life. The class is open to all ages, no experience necessary and all tools and materials are provided. Class begins at 1:00 p.m. Tuition $35 Register online at macicehouse.org or call 304-258-2300.

Come and visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center at Cacapon Resort State Park! The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41. Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities!
