Nature Wonder Weekend

The National Wild Foods Association’s 52nd annual Nature Wonder Weekend at North Bend State Park is brimming with richness in wild edibles – many are in your backyard. A weekend devoted to nature includes featured leaders, teachers and authors:  Vicky Shufer of Virginia Beach, a therapeutic herbalist and David Hawkins of Mother Earth Foods in Parkersburg, W.Va. are keynote speakers.

A variety of hikes and multiple workshops include wild edible identification, preparation and preservation.  The traditional wild food contest and social hour find Friday evening wild food and wild cake activities are lively and the Saturday social hour and wild drink contest are favorites.

Although wild foods are featured throughout the weekend, five traditional Appalachian style meals are part of the weekend package.  The lodging options vary and personalized to suit your needs.  Preregistration for the weekend is required and includes lodging, meals and activities.  Email [email protected] or call Wendy at 304-558-2784 for a registration form and conversation.

Nature Wonder Weekend is made possible by North Bend State Park, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and the National Wild Foods Association.
