Since 1987, the dark skies at Blackwater Falls State Park has welcomed the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society. This group hosts an amazing astronomy weekend that is open to the public. Visitors may observe the striking beauty of the night sky often displaying the Milky Way from horizon to horizon due to incredibly dark skies. Astronomers, astrophotographers, and individuals fascinated with constellations are welcomed. Bring the family or come alone to enjoy a treasured resource—dark skies! The weekend activities include:
