2nd Weekend Activities: Coopers Rock

Marching toward mid-August at Cooper Rock State Forest invites exploration and curiosity.. Join Naturalist and Certified Interpretive Guide Aubrey Bartman for these nature-based activities planned on August 12 – 14, 2022. Participation in any or all hikes and activities is without cost, however children must be accompanied by an adult.

LIFE AROUND THE RESERVOIR
Meet at the Reservoir Parking Area across from the McCollum Campground. We’ll roam around to see what lives in and around the reservoir.

August 13, 2022 – Saturday

AWESOME POSSUM
Meet at the Campground Store in McCollum Campground learn about the amazing O’possum!
That creature that some see as not too pretty and others see as a resourceful animal.

WILDLIFE IN COOPERS ROCK
Gather near the trading post to have a lively conversation about wildlife you may see in the forest when you visit. We may talk about some do’s and don’ts when encountering wildlife when hiking or camping.

We welcome everyone to our activities.

When visiting Coopers Rock State Forest and the Bruceton Mills and Morgantown area, take time to visit the Museum of Geology & Natural History. It is located at 1 Mont Chateau Road, Morgantown. Open from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Admission is free and there are dinosaur bones and if you like geology – this is a very cool place to visit.
