North Bend State Park Activities
North Bend State Park offers a multitude of recreational facilities in a beautiful scenic setting. The year-round park is home to miles of beautiful hiking trails and abundant wildlife. North Bend is best known for the 72-mile North Bend Rail Trail, which follows a railbanked B&O Railroad corridor with several tunnels along the way. North Bend’s natural setting provides everything needed for an exciting outdoor adventure.
ATV
Just minutes away, experience 25 miles of incredible ATV trails at Mountwood ATV Park. The park includes different grades of trails, from moderate to difficult, with spectacular views. After experiencing off-road adventure, rest and relax at North Bend’s beautiful lodge or cozy cabins.
Biking
There are over 20 miles of single-track trails inside North Bend State Park for mountain bikers of all levels to explore. From short loops to multi-trail courses, the thrill is plentiful. Don’t miss the Old Farm Trail, a modern trail with flow, fun and challenges that meets NICA standards for accessibility and rider safety.
The 72-mile-long North Bend Rail Trail sits adjacent to North Bend State Park and is the perfect place for cycle touring. The relatively flat historical trail is constructed of smooth crushed limestone surface for most of the route. The rail trail is ideal for a fun family ride, a cardio workout, or those looking to do long rides on mountain or hybrid bikes.
Boating
Ready for a day on the lake? The 305-acre, 8.1-mile lake at North Bend State Park is part of the North Fork of the Hughes River Watershed Project. North Bend Lake has an average permanent pool width of 310 feet. There is a boat launch, a canoe launch and two accessible fishing platforms. The lake has excellent bass, crappie, catfish, and musky fishing. Canoes, kayaks, Jon boats and pontoons are available for rent at North Bend Outfitters.
Camping
North Bend State Park has two campgrounds that will suit your every need. River Run Campground has 49 sites. 26 of the sites have both water and electric hookups. River Run Campground is typically open from mid-April through October. Cokeley Campground has 28 sites with electricity and water hookups. Each campground has ADA-compliant sites and Wi-Fi.
Fishing
North Bend State Park has a 305-acre recreational lake, a boat ramp, a handicapped-accessible fishing pier and other fishing access points. The river downstream at the Jug handle day-use area is stocked with trout in January, February, March and April. Fishing is also available at the North Fork of the Hughes River.

Geocaching

Golf
Tee time! North Bend Golf Course is a privately operated 9-hole golf course located just outside the park for a relaxing getaway on the green. No experience is needed and lessons are provided upon request. You can also go mini-golfing at the small mini-golf course near the ice cream shack.
Hiking
Do you want to be on the move in the outdoors? North Bend has 14 hiking trails stretching 26 miles, varying in degree and difficulty, with excellent views of the surrounding area for every nature enthusiast. North Bend is an excellent spot for bikers because of its easy access to the 72-mile North Bend Rail Trail, which boasts a nearly flat grade for leisurely rides and walks.
Outdoor Adventure
North Bend State Park is a perfect place to experience outdoor adventure. There are canoe and kayak, mountain bike and geocache opportunities. Birding is popular at the park with a large population of Red-headed Woodpeckers and songbirds, including summer tanagers, cedar waxwings, indigo buntings, bluebirds, warblers and whip-poor-wills.
Swimming
North Bend’s swimming pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Wednesdays through Sundays from 12-6 p.m. Hours may be adjusted in mid-August.
