Lost River State Park is comprised of 3,938 quiet acres, making it an ideal getaway for nature lovers and those looking to take a break from the daily grind. Activities at the park include biking, camping, geocaching, hiking, horseback riding and swimming.

    Hiking

    Hiking at Lost River State Park is exceptional, covering 23 miles of trails for hours of exercise and an unparalleled opportunity to study nature, given the abundance of flora and fauna in the park. One rewarding trail leads to Cranny Crow Overlook, with commanding views from 3,200 feet. There is no fee to enjoy hiking the park trail system, so enjoy it at your leisure! Lost River is a perfect choice if you like hiking and enjoy nature.

    Biking

    Camping

    Lost River State Park offers a quiet, secluded getaway for nature lovers. Campers can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, swimming and more at this beloved state park.

    Geocaching

    Go modern day treasure hunting at Lost River State Park and hunt for the single cache site. All you need is a great team and a smartphone with GPS.

    Horseback Riding

    See the views at Lost River from a whole new perspective. Experience horseback riding on beautiful wooded trails with scenic overlooks and panoramic views. Don’t be scared about riding alone—expert guides will accompany you from Hidden Trails Stables, available seasonally. Private riding is available year-round after registering at the park office. Hidden Trails Stables is open Memorial Day through Labor Day and weekends (Saturday and Sunday) in April, May, September and October. The hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

    Hunting

    An epic prowling adventure is never too far away. Travel to the vast Monongahela National Forest for numerous hunting opportunities. Typical big and small game include turkey, bear, deer, grouse and woodcock. As you prepare, be sure that your hunting license is up-to-date.

    Museums and Historical Sites

    Hardy County is a historic treasure packed with Civil War sites and Appalachian culture. Discover battlefields, homesteads and quaint little museums that chronicle the stories of yesterday for educational entertainment.

    Outdoor Adventures

    A friendly competition brings a little excitement to the soul. In addition to an outdoor swimming pool, Lost River offers tennis courts, a volleyball court, an archery range, badminton and horseshoe. There is even a playground for the little ones to enjoy. Bring along family and friends for some fun-filled recreation among the trees.

    Swimming

    Take a break from the summer heat and cool off in the Lost River State Park pool. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day on Tuesdays through Sundays. Weekday hours are 12:15 to 5:45 p.m. Weekend hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Days and hours of operation in late August may vary.
