Cacapon State Park Activities


Cacapon Resort includes beautiful indoor and seasonal outdoor dining options, a full-service spa and a championship golf course. Outdoor adventures like hiking, mountain biking and fishing are plentiful here. The investments continue at this stunning park, with a new $3.5 million bike park expansion coming soon.

    Biking

    Test your bikes against Cacapon’s 25 miles of single-track and multi-level trails—experience 12 miles of professionally built trails and a skills course area. Whether looking for a beginner trail like the Rock n’ Roll trail or an expert-level trail like Thunderstruck, Cacapon has a path for everyone.

     

    A new grant will add close to 35 miles of professionally built trails to Cacapon over the next three years, making Cacapon the ultimate mountain biking destination on the East Coast.

    Fishing

    Cacapon Resort State Park has two small lakes for fishing. Both are stocked with trout each spring, but bass, catfish, and bluegill can also be caught. Before heading out, purchase a West Virginia fishing license at wvfish.com. West Virginia Fishing Licenses can also be purchased at the Front Desk in the lodge.

    Geocaching

    Your dream of finding buried treasure can finally become a reality at Cacapon Resort State Park. Packed with nine hidden geocaches, bring some great friends and your smartphone with GPS and start hunting for that treasure.

    Golf

    Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the Cacapon Resort State Park golf course was established in 1974 and attracts golfers from near and far. The par 72 tract offers four tees to challenge all skill-level golfers. A highlight of the course, par 3’s hole four and hole eight share a 110-yard double green. Golf lessons are available by appointment with our PGA golf professionals and the Golf Shop is fully stocked, featuring Callaway equipment as well as rental sets for men, women and juniors if you need a last-minute accommodation. After a round of golf enjoy a meal at Getty’s Grill, which overlooks the course.

    Hiking

    You can’t get bored at Cacapon when there are 23 miles for hiking on 9 different trails waiting to be explored. No need to worry about getting lost – hiking maps and guides are available at the Cacapon Lodge Front Desk as well as at stations all around the park. Each trail offers a different physical challenge depending on skill levels, so there’s something for everyone.

    Horseback Riding

    Cacapon Resort State Park offers guided horseback riding tours on trails through Triple C Outfitters. Experienced or not, you can get the experience of the lifetime by riding through this beautiful state park. Giddy up and see the rolling hills from a new perspective! Well-mannered horses and experienced trail guides allow even the beginner to enjoy the wonders of Mother Nature on horseback.

    Outdoor Adventure

    Looking for a rush of adrenaline with a scenic twist? Outdoor adventures and heart-pumping activities await for you at Cacapon Resort State Park. Enjoy the 18-hole disc golf course during your stay at Cacapon! And outdoor adventurers should try their hand at the Wobble Clays Shooting Range, which can be reserved. Want to relax on the water? Find seasonal boating opportunities at the boat docks at the lower lake in Cacapon from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

    Swimming

    Lakefront swimming and boating are available at the Cacapon Resort State Park lake Tuesday through Sunday. Summer beach hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The beach is closed on Mondays except on holidays. Subject to change due to school session resuming in August. Swimming reopens on Memorial Day weekend. Lake entry is cash only: $6 for 12 and older and $5 for 11 and under as well as seniors. The North Lodge has an indoor pool and hot tub; both are open from 10 am-10 pm. The Fitness Center located next to the indoor pool is open from 6 am-10 pm.
