Inspired by Nature. Cacapon Resort State Park features nature-based programs from birding to butterflies and geology to Irish Road Bowling. All activities and programs are free to attend and open to the public unless indicated. Join Naturalist Valerie Chaney, Allen Miller, and park volunteers at the nature center (unless another location is indicated), August 25-28, 2022.

Meet at the front desk of the lodge to hike on the Piney Ridge Trail to learn Cacapon’s geology.
Sights and Sounds of Summer
What sounds are you hearing lately? Spring frogs or toads?
Learn about the park’s many invasive plants and help battle them. Loppers provided. YPP
Visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! at Cacapon State Park. The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park’s history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41.
Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities! The Nature Center is open daily from 9AM-5PM.
