Geology Rocks!-An Evening at Cacapon

It’s a rockin’ weekend at Cacapon Resort State Park. Geologist Ken Ashton welcomes ‘rockers’ to an evening program about the geology of West Virginia. You’ll discover more about rocks, minerals and fossils during the evening presentation held at Cacapon’s Nature Center at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022. The program is free to attend and open to the public.

Have you ever asked ‘Is there gold in these WV hills?’ or “What is an earthquake?” This program is for you. Youth and adults alike may skip a stone on water, but do you know the geology of the Mountain State ? Geology rocks! Join us.

This program presented by geologists of the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey and hosted by Cacapon Resort State Park staff and Valerie Chaney, Park Naturalist. A Friday morning, July 22, 2022 Rock Hike is planned at 10:00 a.m. A Geology Rocks patch is a memento for participating.
