Lost in the Woods kids film & Finger Painting
Join the recreation staff to enjoy a kid friendly film about a fawn then let your imagination loose on paper by using your fingers to paint. Free. YPP
1:00 p.m.
Weather Nature Film & Craft
Join the staff as this film about weather takes you on a whirlwind tour of Earth’s turbulent atmosphere and reveals the forces that make the day fair or foul. Create a rain gauge at the conclusion of the film for $2.00. About 45 minutes. YPP
2:00 p.m.
Gingerbread House Craft
Join the staff to snap together a wooden gingerbread house to decorate. Craft fee: $2.00
3:30 P.M.
Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk–
Join the seasonal naturalist as he picks out a few plants along a short hike that has edible or medicinal qualities. About 1 hour. About 1/2 mile. YPP
5:00 p.m.
Campfire Stories & S’mores.
Join naturalist Paulita and Kenny, for some campfire stories about Moths, the dark and disappearing stars while enjoying some campfire treats. About 1 hour. YPP

MOTH NIGHT
Join Friends of
Blackwater in association with Blackwater Falls State Park to Celebrate National Moth
Week through an evening of observing hordes of moths. There will be multiple black light stations set up around the nature center that will draw in moths for us to ob-
serve, take pictures, and identify as they land on our backdrops. This is a good way to observe handfuls of moths at one location at once and give you a sense of how many moths can be right around your house! Approximately 1.5 hours. YPP

Beginners Bird Walk
Join the park naturalist for a stroll along trails listening and looking for feathered friends. About 1 hour. You don’t have to be a beginner to walk with us. Birders of all levels welcomed. 1/2

11:00 a.m.
Butterflies & Craft Wings
Join the park naturalist to listen about our state butterfly and perhaps attempt to look outside for butterflies found in the area. Afterwards, create a pair of child sized cardboard “stained glass” wings. The use of a utility knife requires an adult to assist their child. About 1 hour. Craft fee: $3.00 YPP

Tracks n’ Craft
Join the park naturalist to look at some wildlife tracks and create a track to take home. About 45 minutes. YPP

Sit n’ Go Nature Moment-BATS!
Join the seasonal park naturalist on the outside porch of nature center to listen about bats of
the area. Includes a scratch bat craft for $1.25. About 45 minutes. YPP

Movie time
Join the staff for this movie about an unforgettable journey of three woodland friends that work to save their friend and home. Rated G. About 1.5 hours. YPP

Natural Cordage
Join the seasonal naturalist to learn about using plants used for cordage. About 30 minutes. YPP
7:00 p.m.
Ramblin Ranger
Find the seasonal naturalist at the falls boardwalk to find out his topic of the day or ask a question. About 1 hour. YPP

Elakala Trail Walk
Join the seasonal naturalist for a stroll along a section of this root and rock strewn trail that leads us over the first cascade of Shay Run known as Elakala Falls. About 1 hour, 1 mile. YPP
11:00 a.m. –1:00 p.m.
Twisted Tie– Dye
Join the staff to create your own Blackwater Falls Souvenir t-shirt (white, black or purple shirts). Adult size shirts $10.00, Youth size shirts $8.00
12:30 p.m. Log Cabin Craft– Join the staff to
glue together and decorate a wooden decorative
cabin. Craft fee: $12.00
2:00 p.m.
Basket Craft
Join our Kenny the Naturalist to learn about basket making then try to create your own small basket for a fee of $15.00. Supplies limited to first come basis. YPP
4:30 p.m.
Nature Film & Craft
Join the staff for their choice of Nature Film and Craft. Craft fee varies according to selected craft. About 1 hour. YPP
