Eagle Survey of the Pipestem Area
Join us Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as we search the skies and waterways of the Pipestem area for majestic golden and bald eagles! Whether you’re a novice or avid birder, this event offers a rewarding outdoor experience and valuable data on these important birds of prey.
Those interested in joining the survey should contact Pipestem Resort State Park naturalist Julie McQuade by calling 304-466-1800 or sending an email to Julie.A.McQuade@wv.gov. Please, call or email by Feb. 26, 2018.
Volunteers will be given survey info, maps and assigned stations along the survey route where they can watch and record eagle sightings. Individuals wanting to meet at the Pipestem Nature Center and caravan to the Pits at the mouth of the Bluestone River should plan to meet at 9 a.m. After the survey, plan to meet at Dairy Queen to compile data. Jim Phillips, a retired Pipestem naturalist, coordinates this event with the help of volunteers from the Eagle Brigade.
