Blackwater Falls State Park Sled Run Tickets Now Available Online

Overnight package available to bundle and save 10%

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Winter is upon us, and the sled run at Blackwater Falls State Park is open for business. This year tickets will be available for advance purchase online for the first time.

“Our sled run is a very popular winter attraction, and sessions often sell out,” Blackwater Falls Superintendent Matt Baker said. “We have a magic carpet that takes riders to the top of the run — the longest on the east coast. We recommend people reserve their tickets soon and come out and enjoy this unique, family-oriented activity.”

The quarter-mile sled run is equipped with lights for nighttime sledding and has a magic carpet conveyor belt that tows riders and their sleds back to the top of the hill. A warming hut provides hot chocolate and snacks when sledders need to take a break from the cold.

Tickets are now available to purchase online for the winter season, beginning Dec. 20.

Ticket price includes a sled rental.

Guests looking for a cozy mountain getaway can book using the Stay and Play Package to receive 10% off their entire stay when they book a sledding session with a lodge or cabin stay.

Cross-country skis and snowshoes also are available for rent at the sled run. The sled run is set to open Dec. 20 2019 and remain open through March 1, 2020, weather permitting. Throughout the season, guests can reserve sled run passes Thursday through Sunday, with additional holiday availability on Monday, Jan. 20 and Monday, Feb. 17.

Sled run sessions are two hours long, with an hour in between each guest session. Session times include 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. on weekdays. An additional 7 p.m. session is available on Fridays and Saturdays.
