Located in Harrison County, Watters Smith Memorial State Park features log cabins, a period-accurate building and a museum that depicts pioneer life from 1796 to the early 1900s. The park is also a popular destination for picnicking, hiking and birdwatching.

Hiking
A historic essence lingers all around Watters Smith Memorial State Park, including its gorgeous hiking trails. There are numerous opportunities to capture breathtaking nature and birdwatching along the way. The park office offers sightings in monthly reports, and blooming, singing and nesting observations are recorded.
Museums and Historical Sites
The Smith residence, built in 1876 to replace the original log cabin, has been refurbished and serves as a museum containing many period-accurate furnishings. A commemorative stone and bronze monument of Smith marks the site of the original log cabin. Area buildings include a horse and cattle barn, a mill room, a corn crib, a hog pen, a smokehouse, a food storage cellar, a woodworking shop, a blacksmith shop and a farm barn for equipment and hay restoration.
Guided tours of the museum are offered on certain weekends, Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Bring along your homemade goodies for a delicious picnic in the park! Watters Smith Memorial State Park has a large picnic area equipped with game courts. You can also enjoy hiking, biking trails and an activity building that can seat up to 60 people.
