Stonewall Resort State Park Activities
Stonewall Resort State Park offers a secluded retreat surrounded by rolling hills. It has everything visitors need for a fun and restful vacation in the mountains of West Virginia, including overnight accommodations, three restaurants, a spa and a variety of activities that range from boating to golf.
You’ll want to spend plenty of time on the water during your visit to Stonewall Resort. With the mountains of West Virginia as your backdrop, take a short cruise around Stonewall Lake on a boat or paddle the peaceful waters in a kayak or canoe. Cast a line and reel in a trophy bass or muskie. The lake has a marina where you can rent a pontoon, CraigCat or launch your own boat. You can also rent kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards, paddleboats and aqua cycles for an active time on the water.
Boating
The Marina at Stonewall Resort offers boat and slip rentals for those who want to spend some time out on the water. Special passes to multiple attractions also are available and include unlimited sessions with kayaks, canoes, road bikes and stand-up paddle boards.
Biking
Stonewall has several loop trails that you can ride. Most are easy to moderate, and all boast lovely scenery.
Camping
Stonewall Resort State Park has 46 campsites with full hookups. The Briar Point Campground on Stonewall Jackson Lake is open year-round and features tent and RV campsites. There’s nothing more blissful than a lakeside nap after a day in nature! West Virginia State Park campground reservations are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. Campgrounds are open on a first-come, first-serve basis after Labor Day.
Fishing
Stonewall’s Lake is known for its muskellunge, crappie and bass fishing. Hit the water for a day or two and see what you can catch! But before you head out, make sure you purchase a current West Virginia fishing license, available at www.wvfish.com.
Golf
Get your backswing ready and spend an afternoon of golf on the Arnold Palmer Signature Course. This green will not disappoint! Equipment and lessons are both available at the Pro Shop for your convenience.
Hiking
Stretch your legs and hit the trails. Stonewall Resort is set along the shores of the 2,600-acre Stonewall Jackson Lake, surrounded by 13 miles of hiking trails offering ample opportunity to enjoy nature in a peaceful setting.
Hunting
Hunting is allowed at the nearby Stonewall Jackson Lake WMA. Common game includes deer, waterfowl and turkey. Licenses are available online.
Outdoor Adventures
Looking for outdoor adventures beyond hiking and biking? Stonewall Resort has an indoor rock climbing wall, outdoor water activities and even a miniature golf course!
Swimming
Looking for a blissful afternoon lounging in the sun? The resort features an indoor and outdoor swimming pool as well as two hot tubs, one indoor and one outdoor.
