Kumbrabow State Forest Activities
Kumbrabow State Forest’s hiking trails, fishing streams and natural beauty make this forest an amazing mountain getaway. It has a variety of scenic trails that lead to awe-inspiring overlooks of the surrounding terrain. Fishing and hunting, with a proper license, are permitted in the forest. Anglers can try to reel in catch-and-release brook trout while hunters may spot deer, bear, turkey, bobcat and ruffed grouse.
Camping
Kumbrabow State Forest’s Mill Creek Campground offers 13 sites in pristine settings near patches of Rhododendron and a native brook trout stream. The campground is open mid-April through the first week of December.
Fishing
Cast a line at Kumbrabow’s Mill Creek, a native brook trout stream. Kumbrabow’s crisp mountain waters are shaded by the forest, making them an ideal habitat for trout. Proper licenses and stamps are required.
Geocaching
Two treasure-filled cache sites await explorers like you in Kumbrabow State Forest. Pack a GPS and bring along some company for riches unknown. Don’t forget to replace what you find for the next adventurists.
Hiking

Horseback Riding
There are no horseback accommodations in the forest, but you can still show off your equestrian skills in Holly River State Park, just over 20 miles away. This state park has overnight camping, corrals and filly-friendly trails.
Hunting
