Audra State Park Activities

For families and nature lovers in need of an escape, Audra State Park is a peaceful retreat in the hills of Barbour and Upshur counties. The center of outdoor recreation is the Middle Fork River, a popular “lazy river” style destination for floating, swimming and fishing. Visitors are drawn to the natural beauty of the Middle Fork, which offers scenic hiking, camping and family picnics. Other activities offered at Audra include biking, boating and geocaching.

    Biking

If you like to explore at a faster pace, try mountain biking through Audra State Park! There’s no better way to view the park’s best views than zip through the trails on a bike. Be sure to pick up a trail map from the office before you head out.

    Boating

Whitewater enthusiasts love boating on the Middle Fork River. This activity is permitted at your own risk. To check the water flow in real time, visit the USGS water resources page. Choose the Monongahela river basin and then check water flows for the Middle Fork at Audra, WV.

    Camping

Audra State Park’s 67 campsites are open April through mid-October. Thirty-nine sites have electricity, and the campground has two bathhouses with modern facilities and a centrally located playground. Coin-operated washing machines and dryers are available on-site and a dumping station is located nearby. A campground store is stocked with camping supplies, snacks and souvenirs, including bagged ice and firewood. The park superintendent has the discretion of site use and guidelines for campground use.

    Fishing

The Middle Fork River is a popular spot for trout fishing. You can also cast a line in the nearby Teter Creek Lake, which offers trout, bass and bluegill fishing. A current West Virginia fishing license and trout stamp are required, both are available to purchase at wvfish.com.
