Best place to fish and boat
“Found this lovely state park with campground on an internet search and it surpassed expectations. Great campsites. Miles of beautiful wooded trails and a picturesque lake a few minutes away from the Grandview overlook section of the New River national river. Quiet, peaceful campground with plenty of shady campsites, many with electric hookups. A nice playground for little ones. The bathhouse was spotless and had laundry facilities. Water pressure in the showers was outstanding. This is a hidden gem of a campground!”

Little Beaver’s 18-acre lake is a favorite spot for boating and fishing. Named one of the Top 10 Mom-Approved Places to Fish and Boat in the U.S., the park also hosts an Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby in June. Anglers can fish year-round for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, trout and channel catfish. Non-motorized boats are permitted on the lake. Visitors may rent standup paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and row boats in season.
Reconnect with nature
“We love to go hiking and we had never been to this state park. We thought we’d give it a try. After reading we decided to do the Lake Front Trail. (It was our first hike of the season) so we thought it would be a gentle warm up. Gentle is certainly the right word it was a very flat trail with no real challenging areas. Perfect for families with small children and elderly family members. We had a nice time since there were quite a few geese and ducks around. We plan on going back to do a more challenging trail.”
