Mid-week activities at Blackwater Falls State Park are at the Nature Center. The Nature Center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wear your mask and visit our exhibits.

Nature Center Open: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

10:00 a.m. Sand Art Craft
Use sand to color in a pre-pasted design. FREE

11:00 a.m. Backyard Bugs Nature Film
It’s an incredible backyard adventure to discover some amazing insects that exist right outside your door! About 30 minutes. YPP

1:00 p.m. Leaf Suncatcher Craft
Paint to fill in a pre-designed leaf suncatcher or choose another design. Craft fee: $2.00 leaf, other sun catchers, $1.00 to $10.00

2:30 p.m. Beavers! Nature Film
This is a great film about our favorite rodent – beavers. About 1 hour. YPP

11:00 a.m. Mason Jar Craft
Create a jar with a nativity scene or thanksgiving blessing scene. Craft fee: $5.00 includes candle.

1:00 p.m. Wildlife Feeding and Craft
Learn about why wildlife feeding is harmful to animals and humans then create a paper bag raccoon to remember the program. About 20 minutes. YPP

1:30 p.m. Movie Time
Step back into the past to take a ride with one of the most wonderful family films of all time! About 2 hours.

Nature Center Open: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

10:00 a.m. Spruce Bogs and Berries Walk
Join the park naturalist, Paulita, at the trailhead of Gentle Trail for this walk along a section of Yellow Birch Trail under a canopy of conifers to a mountain bog. About 70 minutes. YPP

11:00 a.m. Finger-painting and Kids Film
Make a work of art with your fingers while simultaneously enjoying a film about a worried scarecrow as he watches the animals prepare for winter. About 30 minutes. YPP

1:00 p.m. Skulls, Skins and Scat
Join the park naturalist, Paulita, to hear about some of our wildlife by investigating their tracks, scat and pelts. Then venture outside to test the skills you just learned in the field. About 90 minutes, 1/2 mile. YPP

2:30 p.m. Silly Stone Craft
It’s rock time! Paint a rock, attach some wiggly eyes and give it a name. Craft fee: $2.00
