The Moon Rocks Hike is for hikers 21 years of age or older. This is a special activity at Canaan Valley Resort, on Saturday, June 24, 2023. Beginning at 9:00am and returning by 1:30pm, this hike requires advance registration.

Have you ever ‘wandered’ what it would be like to walk on the moon? If so, come join us for a hike to do just that! This trail is the Moon Rock Trail located beside the Blackwater River near Davis, WV. This trail includes massive formations of “moon rock” sandstone bedrock some 480 million years old as well as wetland areas that give way to areas of hardwoods. The hike is approximately 4 miles long and is strenuous. A shuttle bus will take us to our destination and bring us back to the main lodge. Please wear waterproof hiking boots or shoes, the trail may be wet, muddy with rocks and roots. On our return to the resort, we will have scheduled stops at local breweries to partake in the local craft beers. The hike fee is $15 per person. The hike is limited to eight individuals, 21 years of age or older with proof of age and valid photo ID.
