Mid-week Summer Fun: Cacapon

Mid-week at Cacapon there are programs about kayaking, primitive fire building and more. Join Naturalist Valerie Chaney and summer team, Garrett, Allen, and Mary and the park volunteers at the nature center (unless another location is indicated), July 18-21, 2022.

Join Ken Ashton, Geologist with the West Virginia Geological & Economic Survey in Morgantown, WV for a presentation on West Virginia and Cacapon Geology at the nature center. Following morning Ken will lead a geology hike at 10AM.

Come and visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park’s history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41.

Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities! The Nature Center is open daily from 9AM-5PM.
