Labor Day Weekend: Cacapon

September 2, 2022 - September 5, 2022

Labor Day Weekend already! Cacapon Resort State Park features nature-based programs from birding to butterflies and geology to Irish Road Bowling. The Cacapon Homecoming is September 4!. All activities and programs are free to attend and open to the public. Join Naturalist Valerie Chaney and summer team Garrett, Allen and Mary and park volunteers at the nature center (unless another location is indicated), August 29 – September 1, 2022.

Celebrate our Camp Morgan CCC boys, Civilian Conservation Corps, who built the park 1934-41’. The Cacapon Resort State Park Foundation will have live music, silent auction, food, 50/50 raffle, & door prizes.

The CCC Boys Film
Watch a 30 minute film on how the CCC boys helped build WV state parks and forests.

Visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! at Cacapon State Park. The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park’s history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41.

Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities!
