Let’s take a short nature hike at Tygart Lake State Park for this year’s Kids to Parks Day on May 21, 2022. Kids to Parks Day is the National Park Trust’s 12th annual celebration and at Tygart Lake it is a walk and s’more.

Meet naturalist Jacob Jackson at the Nature Center at 2:00 p.m. A short nature walk (about a half mile) on the Ridge Trail will introduce youth and families to interesting stories and identification of wild things. Everyone returns to the Nature Center area to start a fire, roast marshmallows and to make and eat s’mores.

Jackson enjoys conducting outdoor heritage programs and is a certified interpretive guide (NAI/CIG). He welcomes families and particularly youth to activities and programs at Tygart Lake State Park throughout the year. There is no fee to participate. Kids get a special sticker. This walk and s’more day is open to any age. Youngsters should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
