Hidden History: Civil War Battlefield Tour: Carnifex Ferry

Step back in time at a place where history happened in 1861. Take a short, easy 1-mile walk through the battlefield site and cemetery and see the Patterson house to learn more about what happened here during the Civil War. This activity occurs on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Autumn colors should be beautiful this time of year at Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park and throughout Nicholas County. There is no charge for this activity.
This is one of the many 15th annual Hidden History Happenings celebrating Appalachian heritage in Southern West Virginia with events planned from September 9 – October 15, 2023 and organized by the National Park Service, New River Gorge National Park & Preserve.
