Green Day Hike: Cacapon Resort State Park - March 21, 2026

Cacapon Resort State Park is hosting the annual Green Day Hike on Saturday, March 21. This hike celebrates the return of spring as the mountains return to green. This naturalist-guided hike will begin at the nature center, and all participants will earn an incentive.
The Hovermale Homestead Trail is rated easy with a 1.2-mile loop. We will begin at the nature center and stroll on this wooded trail. We will walk past fungi, moss, and the possible beginning of spring flowers such as Rue Anemone and Trailing Arbutus. Rock formations, old road tracks, vernal pools and flowing streams will meet us along the way. Spring is budding, and so are the trees! Sounds of woodpeckers and the call of the Spring Peeper tree frog may be heard. Dogs on leash are welcome.
