Green Day Hike – Cacapon Resort State Park

Join us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, for the annual green day hike on the Hovermale Homestead Trail. The trail is rated easy with a 1.2-mile loop. We will begin at the nature center and stroll on this wooded trail. We will walk past fungi, moss, and the possible beginning of spring flowers such as Rue Anemone and Trailing Arbutus. Rock formations, old road tracks, vernal pools and flowing streams will meet us along the way. Spring is budding, and so are the trees! Sounds of woodpeckers and the call of the Spring Peeper tree frog may be heard. A scavenger hunt will be conducted along the route. Participants will earn a hiking patch. Dogs on a leash are welcome.
