Full Moon Hike: Cass

Hike by the light of a full moon at Cass on October 28, 2023.

The “Full Hunter’s Moon” hike at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park begins
from the visitor’s center at the Cass Company Store area. This evening
walk, led by Park Superintendent Marshall Markley or designee, is
about three miles round trip with a slight grade, but mostly flat hiking.
The hike is free and open to the public.

The October full moon is known as the Full Hunter’s Moon. This is the
month when the game is fattened up for the coming winter. Now is the
time for hunting and laying in a store of provisions for the long months
ahead. The Hunter’s Moon is accorded with special honor, historically
serving as an important feast day among many Native American tribes.
Other names for the October Full Moon are the Falling Leaves Moon,
Freezing Moon, Ice Moon, and Migrating Moon.

This full moon hike begins at 6:30 PM. We hope to see you and remind
