First Day Hike: Bluestone

January 1, 2023 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

January 1 is a great day to visit Bluestone State Park and participate in a First Day Hike.

Naturalist and educator Jonathan Lipscomb invites you to join him on a hike that includes Cabin and Big Pine Trails with a shuttle back to the top of the mountain.  This is a 2-½ mile hike and will be moderately strenous.

Plan on being outdoors for a minimum of 2-3 hours.  Bundle up or layer for the weather and wear good hiking boots.  Consider packing a snack or water.  In the event of inclement weather the hike will be shortened accordingly. “We’ll pace ourselves to enjoy the hike and our first day of 2023.”  Hike will start at 10:00 a.m.  Plan on arriving at the Events Building at least 10 minutes prior to start time.

First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks to get people outdoors, with over 400 hikes scheduled this year in all 50 states. Kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a state park.
