First Day Hike 2025: Watoga State Park

Start the New Year with an adventure through nature and history at Watoga State Park. Join us for the First Day Hike on January 1st, 2025 11 a.m. at the Activities Building to earn your West Virginia State Park First Day hiking patch! This will be an easy hike available for all ages and skill levels. We will hike about 2 miles at a slow pace with several stops along the way. Winter is a great time to learn about animal tracks. We will also explore the history of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Be prepared for the cold and possible snow. Wear warm layered clothing and sturdy hiking boots. Bring water, binoculars & your camera! Hot coffee and cocoa will be available at the Activities Building following the hike.
