First Day Hike at Chief Logan

Take your first step into the New Year with a hike at Chief Logan State Park on January 1. Departing from the park office/Museum-in-the-Park, the wintry walk begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends in plenty of time to enjoy lunch at Chief Logan Lodge (Whispering Ridge Restaurant).

Naturalist Lauren Cole will lead walkers along Cliffside Trail, a great starter trail for folks with a resolution to be outside more in 2020 and to enjoy learning more the flora and fauna of West Virginia.

Plan on about 2-3 miles of peaceful walking. Identification of trees, tracks, looking for wildlife, and learning about evergreens, which remain green year-round, is part of the discovery. Please, dress for weather conditions. Young children should be accompanied by an adult. All ages welcomed. No reservations required for this walk. Please, carry water and a snack.
