Finally Friday! Fun: Blackwater Falls - October 6, 2023

Kick the weekend off on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Blackwater Falls State Park. Take advantage of the activities or take a hike or walk to the falls area, Gentle Trail or other pathways or enjoy a great meal at the Smokehouse Restaurant located in Blackwater Falls Lodge.

Nature Center Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

11:30 a.m.—Meet our Turtles & Craft
Join the park naturalist to hear the story of how the turtles came to call the Harold Walters Nature Center Home, some of their relatives in West Virginia and perhaps make a turtle using construction paper and popsicle sticks. About 1 hour. YPP

12:30 p.m. . Owl-O-Ween
Join the seasonal naturalist, to hear about owls that call West Virginia home or vacation in the mountain state. Learn about amazing adaptations of owls and try to talk like a barred owl. There are no live owls. This is an exceptional program. About one hour. YPP

2:00 p.m. Popsicle Stick Wreath
Join the staff to create a fall wreath using popsicle sticks. Craft fee: $3.00

5:00 p.m. Ramblin’ Ranger– Creature Feature
Find the seasonal naturalist in the lodge lobby for his display about the Fisher. If you don’t know what a Fisher is, this is a great opportunity. Test your knowledge about fisher, ask a question, pick up a trail map or simply stop to say hello. The naturalist will be set up for about 2 hours. YPP
