Earth Day! Nature Adventure Day Camp: Blackwater Falls

April 22 All day

Earth Day! April 22, 2023 at Blackwater Falls State Park will be a very special day for twelve youth taking advantage of a day-camp of nature-based activities. Open to ages 9 – 12, the day begins at 9:00 a.m. with a meet and greet at the nature center and then the adventure begins.

The day includes activities about birds, water cycle and weather, wildlife identification, becoming a responsible outdoors girl or guy. Activities include meeting and learning nature center animals, exploring the outdoors near the nature center, and other activities. The camp is limited to 12 youth. A small group allows a lot of extra time spent exploring and discovering neat things in nature with the park naturalist. This Earth Day event may be of interest to homeschooled youth ages 9, 10, 11, or 12 years old. The science based information, resources used and hands-on learning is exceptional.

Preregistration is required in advance and there is a $45 enrollment fee. The fee covers materials for crafting, lunch, a day pack, and individual concentration on nature topics. An adult may attend with the student if desired, but not necessary.

Youth completing the Earth Day Nature Adventure receives a certificate, patch and special pin as part of the young people for parks program.
