About Corey Lee McQuade and Friends
The Americana sounds of Corey Lee McQuade, Paul Johnson, and Lars Swanson have been performing together for over two decades. Moving between folk, bluegrass, blues and soul, Paul E Johnson’s voice is versatile and emotive. Johnson looks like a mountain and sings like a man, or, if you prefer, vice versa. Johnson has got one of those voices that’s like a revelation. Simultaneously gruff, scratchy and sensitive. Corey Lee McQuade, “the other flatpicking dobro man”, carries on the dobro style of Grammy winner Tut Taylor, flatpicking the resophonic guitar aka dobro. Corey and Tut Taylor became good friends and performed together until 2015. They will be joined by Lars Swanson on bass. Lars is one of the most versatile bass players in the country performing with The Long Pint String Band, Chance McCoy, and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. as his musical director. This is the sound of today’s Appalachian music.
