From China to Appalachia – Americana meets Classical

The Morgan Arts Council (MAC) welcomes GRAMMY Award winning American Roots
artists Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer joining with Chinese classical hammered dulcimer player
Chao Tian in a show that combines music from China to Appalachia and beyond.
This concert is on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Berkeley Springs State Park.

Instrumentation includes yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer), gourd banjo, five-string
banjo, ukulele, guitars, dumbek, cello-banjo and mandolin. From China to Appalachia was
borne of a friendship and mutual love of musical exploration experienced in jam sessions
that inspired a show speaking to the power of music to connect cultures.

Bring a blanket, chairs, or picnic for a great evening of free music in the park.
All concerts start at 5:30 p.m. in Berkeley Springs State Park.

This year’s sponsors for the series include the WV Department of Arts, Culture and History,
and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the
Arts, and local hotel/motel taxes.
