Children of the Blennerhassett Mansion: Blennerhassett Island
June 17 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Learn about the children of this famous Blennerhassett Island Family. This program is designed for young people (in grades 3-6) accompanied by parent(s) or grandparent(s). This is a wonderful opportunity for youth and families to engage in the history of Blennerhassett Island and occupants of the island. Join us on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
What were these children’s names and ages, where was their bedroom in the house, and why was one of them nicknamed “Little Snowdrop?”
This parent/child educational event includes a Special Mansion Tour and Outdoor Activities. Participants will explore the various rooms of the Mansion from a child’s perspective and learn more about the Blennerhassett children’s parents. At the end of this tour, the youth will compare the Mansion with their own homes to recognize what things are different then and now.
We’ll play some period games that the Blennerhassett children might have played and learn a children’s song from an earlier time. It will be a fun day at Blennerhassett Island. The cost of this one-hour event is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids. Space is limited. It is a rain or shine event.
Call the Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park Museum at 304-420-4800 if you have questions.
